Mike and Luanne are two foodies who have combined their skills and passion for food to bring top-notch catering services to your next event and freshly prepared meals to your families, and believe it or not this is their idea of retirement! Mike opened his first restaurant in Los Angeles and continued opening a string of successful “Uncommon Italian Restaurants”, Catering Companies and New York Delis. Mike’s restaurant and recipes have been published in Bon Appetit magazine, and Robert Herzog’s 1976 publication of “ Los Angeles Top Ten Restaurants”. In addition, his New York Style Deli, “Downtown Deli” has received many Peoples’ Choice Awards. Mike's extensive experience in the restaurant industry coupled with Luanne's catering and event planning career makes these two unstoppable. Can you think of a better pair to cater your next event?


About Mike & Luanne

Mike Orofino grew up in the Italian neighborhood kitchens in New York. Everything centered around food and the wonderful family traditions associated with holidays and family events. The wonderful smells and delicious tastes were everywhere! As a junior in college Mike spent his junior year in Italy exploring his roots while furthering his education and his passion for food deepened. After college, Mike followed his passion for cooking and moved to Los Angeles opening the first “Orofino’s Restaurant” and on to South Lake Tahoe and back to New York over the next forty years opening a string of successful “Uncommon Italian Restaurants”, Catering Companies and New York Delis. Mike’s restaurant and recipes have been published in Bon Appetit magazine, and Robert Herzog’s 1976 publication of “ Los Angeles Top Ten Restaurants” and his New York Style Deli, “Downtown Deli” has received many Peoples’ Choice Awards. One of the highlights of his career was bringing back Balloons, a well-known steakhouse built in the 30’s in New York. As a child, Mike remembers going to the steakhouse, years later he came back and purchased the restaurant and brought it back to life – an incredible homage to those who worked there for decades and for people in the community who enjoyed Balloons while it was in business back in the day.

Luanne Bomar Kanter, grew up in Atlanta and her passion for baking and cooking was inspired by her loving mother’s wonderful southern kitchen. Luanne moved to Orlando where she raised her wonderful family and quickly became known as the best southern hostess and “Dessert Queen! “ Luanne’s scrumptious berry trifles, delicious flaky fruit, chocolate silk and pecan pies and her rich creamy cheesecakes and decadent southern cakes, especially her Limoncello, carrot and chocolate mousse cake are to die for! Luanne has been actively involved in corporate and non profit event planning and fundraising for 20+ years.

A note from the Orofino’s: “We have had a very busy winter in sunny  Florida. Luanne and I are excited to be on our way back to our home in the Fingerlakes! Orofino’s Kitchen will be preparing fresh, hot, homestyle meals for you to enjoy at the Owasco Farmers Market. At the Skaneatelas Market, we will also serve fresh, packaged meals to take home — simply reheat, serve, and enjoy! Can’t wait to see you all the next farmers market.”

Owasco Farmers Market – scheduled to open on Wednesday June 14, 2017
OROFINO’S KITCHEN menu will feature fresh Hot Entrees, Sides, Salads, Soups, Hot Meatball and Sausage Subs, Hoffman Hots, Pizze Fritte, Focaccia and Tomato Pie.

Skaneatelas Farmers Market – will open Thursday May 18, 2017
OROFINO’S KITCHEN will feature a “What’s For Dinner” freshly prepared and packaged Meal Entrees and Sides, Soups, and Sauces. Menus will be emailed to followers directly and published weekly on Facebook and meals can be pre-ordered and picked up at the Market. A limited number of meals and sides will be available on a first come basis.

OROFINO’S KITCHEN is booking catered events and service.

Affordable “ Drop Off Catering”  menus will be posted on our OROFINO’S KITCHEN website and Facebook for Graduations, Picnics, Family Reunions and Special Occasions. Custom catering menus are also available.
